After helping KidKraft recapitalize their Secured Debt Facility with Gordon Brothers in January 2024, Baird continued to help the Company to evaluate strategic alternatives. Baird ran a prepetition sale process which resulted in an agreement with backyard shed and playset manufacturer, Backyard, to buy a substantial majority of the debtors’ assets. The debtors effectuated the sale through a prepackaged chapter 11 with the support of Gordon Brothers, sponsor MidOcean Partners IV LP and Backyard as purchaser.

Gordon Brothers lends against and invests in brands, real estate, inventory, receivables, machinery, equipment and other assets, both together and individually, to provide clients liquidity solutions beyond its market-leading disposition and appraisal services. Gordon Brothers was founded in 1903 and is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, with over 30 offices across five continents.

Backyard specializes in wood-based shed manufacturing and is a part of the home improvement and outdoor structures industry. The firm offers a variety of wood-based sheds that cater to storage needs for consumers, designed in multiple styles and sizes. These products are primarily sold to the home improvement sector and individuals seeking backyard storage solutions. Backyard was founded in 1975 and is headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
