Allen Named One of YMCA’s “Volunteers of the Year” in Louisville
The YMCA of Greater Louisville has named Jim Allen, CFA®, Vice Chair of Baird, one of their “Volunteers of the Year.” Allen was recognized at an event in Louisville on June 8.
According to the YMCA’s news release, “Jim is a long-time volunteer with the YMCA having served in a variety of leadership roles over the last 40 years; first with YMCA Safe Place Services and now on the Association Board. In 2009, Jim was awarded the YMCA Spirit of Louisville Award and has received numerous accolades for his advancement of causes throughout Greater Louisville.” Allen served as Chair of the YMCA of Greater Louisville from 2003 to 2009.
Reflecting his commitment to financial literary and economic education, Allen has worked closely with the Chestnut Street YMCA’s Black Achievers Program to implement the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) Foundation’s “The Stock Market Game.” The Stock Market Game is a free curriculum-based program that allows students to experience our capital markets under “real-world” conditions while learning investment fundamentals from diversification to long-term planning to socially responsible investing. Allen serves on the SIFMA Foundation Board.
